Senate District 56

Senator Dan Moody of Alpharetta was first elected to the Georgia Senate from the 56th District in 2002.

Moody, a Republican, serves as Chairman of the Education and Youth Committee. In addition he serves as Secretary of the Insurance and Labor Committee and a member of the Ethics, Reapportionment, Rules, and Appropriations Committees. Moody is also a member of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government Advisory Board. He was appointed to the Senate Majority Party Task Force to study alternative revenue
opportunities and address revenue shortfalls throughout the state.

As a result of his efforts during the 2003-2004 General Assembly Session, Moody was honored last year by the Georgia Municipal Association when he was presented with their coveted “Champion of Georgia Cities” award during a Roswell City Council meeting. Senator Moody was first elected to the Georgia Senate in 2002. Within the Republican Party, Moody has served as Precinct Chairman and has been a
delegate to both the State and District Republican conventions. He is currently a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce. He also is a member of the Johns Creek Rotary Club. An Electrical Engineer by trade and a retired Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, Moody is an established business owner in Forsyth County, where he employs 65 people that provide instrumentation products and services throughout the world to the industrial control market.

Sen. Moody and his wife, Stephanie, have been married 35 years, and have three children and two grandchildren. They attend Mount Pisgah Methodist Church. Their family has been active in a wide variety of capacities including serving on Parent-Teacher Associations, governmental ad hoc committees, neighborhood property owners’ associations, and Library Friends’ groups. Currently Mrs. Moody serves
on the Atlanta/Fulton County Library Board of Trustees as well as the Library Foundation.

The 56th Senate District is located in North Fulton County and includes all of Roswell along with large portions of Alpharetta and Sandy Springs.
