Senator Judson Hill

Senator Judson Hill was elected to the Georgia Senate in 2004 by almost 75 percent of the vote to represent East Cobb County and a portion of Sandy Springs. In 2006, Sen. Hill was selected as Deputy Majority Whip and unanimously elected to serve
as vice chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus. He serves as chairman of the Reapportionment and Redirecting Committee, secretary of the Special Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Health and Human Services, Judiciary and Urban Affairs Committee and he is an ex-officio member of the Transportation Committee. In addition, Sen. Hill is chairman of the Georgia World Congress Center Oversight Committee and co-chairman of the Georgia High School Sports Association Oversight Committee, chairs the Healthcare Transformation
Senate Study Committee and serves on MARTOC the oversight committee for MARTA.

In his first term, Sen. Hill was instrumental in the passage of many pieces of legislation, including Georgia’s comprehensive civil justice reform bill. He also helped pass legislation allowing the people of Sandy Springs to vote on incorporation as a new city, to protect people from governmental eminent domain powers and sponsored the nation’s toughest sexual predator legislation.

Sen. Hill and his wife Shelly have lived in East Cobb for over 20 years. He came to Atlanta in the 1970’s to attend Emory University. Shelly grew up in East Cobb, and graduated from Lassiter High School. Two of their three children attend Cobb County schools and they have been members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church for over 15 years.

Sen. Hill graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. His Juris Doctorate degree is from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon. In 2002, he co-authored “Enhancing Your Business Value.”

Sen. Hill served in the Reagan Administration as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia and also in Washington, D.C. as special assistant to the General Counsel, Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State. Prior to that, Sen. Hill worked for President Reagan on the White House Advance Team and on the Reagan-Bush ’84 campaign. He is Managing Director of Day Capital, LLC. Sen. Hill has been a Sunday school and Bible study teacher for many years.
