Senate District 24

Senator William “Bill” S. Jackson is a Republican representing the 24th Senate District. He was elected to the Senate on June 19, 2007 in a special election to represent Columbia, Glascock, Lincoln, McDuffie and Wilkes counties, and portions of Elbert and Warren counties.

Prior to his service in the Senate, Sen. Jackson was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for 16 years, serving as a member of such influential committees as the Industry, Trade and Tourism Committee, Natural Resources and the Environment Committee and Special Judiciary Committee.

Before his election to the House, he served as chairman of the Columbia County Board of Education. More recently, he served as a member of the State Board of Corrections from 2006 to 2007.

A successful businessman, Sen. Jackson established a tile and stone distribution company, Tile Center Inc., in Augusta in 1961. His business has grown to include five locations in Georgia and South Carolina. He is also very involved in his community, as a member of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce
and the Shiloh Methodist Church in Appling.

After graduating from the Columbia County public school system, Sen. Jackson went on to work in construction. He has two children, William and Paula.
