Senator Ronnie Chance
Senate District 16
Senator Ronnie Chance, a Republican, was first elected to the state Senate from
Georgia's 16th District in 2004. He represents Lamar, Pike and parts of Fayette,
Monroe and Spalding counties. He serves as chairman of the Government
Oversight Committee, secretary of the Finance Committee and serves as a member
of the Higher Education and Economic Development committees and Georgia’s
Workforce Investment Board. In 2006, he was appointed Senate Floor Leader by
Governor Sonny Perdue.
Sen. Chance is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Flint River Council of the Boy
Scouts of America, the Georgia State University Alumni Association, the Cochran Mill Nature Center
and the Fayette County Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Sen. Chance is a graduate of Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business where he
earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. He is married to the former
Cressida Stevens of Gloucestershire, England. The Chances have two daughters, Ellia and Eva, and
are members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. The family currently resides in Tyrone.
