Senator John Bulloch
Senate District 11 John D. Bulloch, Jr., a Republican, was first elected to the Georgia Senate representing
the 11th District in 2002. Prior to his seat in the Senate, Sen. Bulloch served in the
House of Representatives, elected in 1998. Sen. Bulloch represents the citizens of
Colquitt, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Miller and Seminole Counties. He also
represents part of Mitchell and Thomas counties.
Sen. Bulloch serves as Chairman of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Vice Chair of Natural
Resources and Environment and serves on the Appropriations and Banking and Financial Institutions
committees.
Sen. Bulloch attended Elementary and secondary school in the Thomas County Schools district and
graduated in 1965. He then studied for two years at Abraham Baldwin College majoring in
agriculture.
Sen. Bulloch is a successful forth generation farmer born in Thomas County. He is the son of the late J.
Douglas Bulloch of Ochlocknee and Katherine B. Prevatte of Thomasville. He owns Bulloch Farms
and farms 350 acres of pecans and 560 acres of row crops. He was voted Chamber of Commerce Man
of the Year 1984 and Kiwanis Farmer of the Year in 1986.
Sen. Bulloch is a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville, Chairman of Thomas County
Board of Commissioner for 14 years and a member for 20 years. He is the past president of Georgia
Pecan Growers Association, a member of the Thomas County Board of Health for 12 years and
chairman for 10 years and is a member of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce,
past executive board member. Sen. Bulloch also serves as a member to the Thomas County Central
High School Booster Club and a board member of the Boys and Girls Club. Sen. Bulloch is a past
member of Arch bold Hospital Board of Trustees, past chairman of South Georgia Hospital Authority,
past member of the Thomasville Payroll Development Authority and a past member of Thomas County
Library Board.
Sen. Bulloch is married to the former Miriam Garner of Thomas County and they have three daughters,
Dee, Joni, and Ashley, and grandson Marx.
